Dr. Walker from SmileMakers visited our 4th and 5th graders today and delivered an engaging lesson on dentistry, orthodontia, and the inner workings of our teeth! 🦷
Several students even won t-shirts for answering some pretty tough questions — and we were especially proud of the in-depth, thought-provoking questions our students asked during the closing Q&A session. Their curiosity and critical thinking were on full display!
Thank you again to SmileMakers for today’s informative lesson and for the laptop cases you generously provided to all of our students at the start of this school year. We appreciate your continued support of our school community!

Today, on Young Waterfowler’s Day, we pause to remember and honor the lives of the East Carteret High School students — Noah Styron, Jake Taylor, Daily Shepherd, and Kole McInnis — who were tragically lost four years ago in a plane crash while participating in a youth hunting trip with their chaperones.
As educators, some of the hardest news we ever receive is the loss of a former student. The grief runs deep — it feels as though one of our own children has been taken from us. Our students become part of our unofficial families, and their impact stays with us long after they leave our classrooms.
Today, we wear camouflage in their memory. We remember their lives, their potential, and the joy they brought to those around them. In honoring them, we also renew our commitment to cherish each and every student entrusted to our care.
They are not forgotten. 💛

We felt the love today at Morehead City Elementary School! ❤️
Our incredible PTO treated our teachers to donuts and coffee and surprised our students with Valentine’s cookies to help us celebrate the day. 🍩☕🍪
Our PTO has historically always gone above and beyond to make both students and staff feel appreciated. We are so thankful for the active, supportive parents who pour so much into our small school community.
We are truly blessed — and very grateful — for all you do to make Morehead City Elementary such a special place! 💕

Good evening Morehead City Elementary School families! I certainly hope that all of you are staying safe and warm in the winter storm. Carteret County Public Schools has announced that Tuesday, February 3rd and Wednesday, February 4th will both be remote learning days for students. Prior to release for the weekend, MES staff ensured that all students had their computers and knew how to access their Google Classrooms. Our teachers will be available by email or Remind during the normal school day hours should you have any questions. When students log in to their Google Classrooms, there will be an attendance form that they will need to complete each day in order to be counted present for the day. Again, if you have any questions, please reach out to myself or the teachers. Stay tuned in the days to come as we all navigate the upcoming week ahead.
