Mrs. Propst graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in secondary mathematics and a minor in English. She continued her education at Appalachian State University obtaining a master’s degree in secondary mathematics and public-school administration. Additionally she is a National Board Certified teacher and holds a license in academically gifted as well. She taught high school math for several years, mostly AP Calculus and Geometry. In addition to teaching, she was a district curriculum coach/specialist before relocating to Carteret County. She and her family LOVE it here! After moving, she taught a couple of years at Croatan before moving into administration. She has since been at Beaufort Elementary, Newport Elementary, Morehead City Middle and Morehead City Primary.
Mrs. Propst has two children and two Boston Terriers named Ziggy Jack and Bowie Watts. They are appropriately named to reflect the family’s love of music. Ziggy from Ziggy Marley and Jack form a Rolling Stones song “Jumping Jack Flash”. Bowie Watts is from David Bowie and Charlie Watts, the late drummer of the Rolling Stones.
In addition to staying busy with family, she enjoys exercising and listening to podcast.
